Join us for a case study discussion on memorialization of complex figures at Harvard

Join the EdEthics initiative from the Harvard Graduate School of Education for a free online discussion of a brand-new case study, “Visual Veritas.” This nonfiction case examines the ethical challenges that arise when universities memorialize historically-complex figures through visual culture like portraits, statues, and busts. With an institutional commitment to truth and an increasingly diverse student body, what are the tradeoffs to consider when revisiting artistic representations of complex historical figures around campus?

The discussion will take place over Zoom on Thursday, July 17, from 12-1:30pm Eastern Time. All Harvard students, faculty, staff, alumni, and affiliates are welcome.

Email justice@gse.harvard.edu for a copy of the case and the Zoom link.
