Alex Chang is a PhD student in the Culture, Institutions, and Society Concentration at HGSE. Her primary research interests sit at the intersection of philosophy of education and teacher education, particularly around questions of how teachers and students mutually develop as moral agents. Before coming to Harvard, Alex taught middle school English Language Arts and Social Studies for six years, first in the Boston Public Schools and then in a range of educational settings in Michigan, including a trauma-informed charter school for students in foster care. She holds an M.Ed. from the Boston Teacher Residency and a BA in philosophy from Carleton College, where she initiated a philosophy with children program and joined a larger network of practitioners through the Philosophy Learning and Teaching Organization (PLATO). She currently serves on PLATO’s Research Committee and Academic Advisory Board.
